Education and Admissions FAQs

Most educational consultants charge a large upfront fee for a fixed engagement. We use a subscription model, which means families can access ongoing support at a lower monthly cost and stay with us for as long as it’s useful.

We’re also more than admissions counselors. We prefer to start working with families well before applications begin, helping with the bigger picture of a student’s educational planning, not just getting them into a specific school.

We work with students at all ages and levels from pre-K through post-doc. Many families begin working with us in elementary or middle school and continue through college or graduate school applications.

Personalized educational consulting can cost tens of thousands of dollars and is frequently limited to application support. Our subscription model allows families to access ongoing, individualized guidance at a predictable monthly rate for as long as they need it. Some families need targeted support at specific moments, while others prefer consistent, long-term guidance. Our Complete tier subscription is priced in line with industry averages, and our Comprehensive and Foundations tiers offer individualized support at a level and price point that many families would not otherwise be able to access.

Our team brings deep experience in education, research, and program design. When a question falls outside our immediate expertise, we draw on our broad network of trusted educators and consultants here in Maine and around the world.

As members of professional organizations focused on educational access and admissions, we also have access to specialists across many fields. When appropriate, we are happy to refer families to consultants we trust, including those specializing in medical or law school admissions, therapeutic schools, and other specialized pathways.

We respond to messages and do our best to address time-sensitive questions promptly. Non-urgent topics are typically saved for monthly meetings, where we can discuss them more thoroughly. If something is urgent or deadline-driven, we encourage you to let us know.

We work with both students and parents, with the balance shifting as students grow older. For younger students, parents or guardians are our primary contact, with students participating as appropriate. By high school, we work more directly with students while keeping parents closely informed and in the loop.

Our goal is to help students develop ownership of their educational journey while maintaining clear communication and collaboration with families.

We support a wide range of educational planning needs, including, but not limited to:

  • School search and applications at all levels
  • Academic planning, course selection, and study skills
  • Tutoring, coaching, and executive functioning support
  • Extracurricular planning, research projects, and gap years
  • Application components such as essays, interviews, and recommendations
  • Financial aid planning and support, scholarships, and award letter review
  • Specialized pathways, including transfers, international applications, learning differences, and adult learners
That depends on when you start and what you are working on. Many families feel relief right away from having clear guidance and a plan. Concrete outcomes such as school lists, submitted applications, or acceptances depend on your timeline. Starting earlier allows more time to explore options and build strong applications, but we also regularly help families who come to us later in the process. We meet families where they are and help them make the best decisions for their situation.
Fit matters. Our subscription model allows families to try the service without long-term commitment. You can cancel at any time, and new members have 30 days to try the service with a full refund. We want families to feel confident and supported, not locked in. If we believe another consultant or service would better meet your needs, we will say so and help connect you with appropriate resources.

We offer custom projects for families with urgent or time-sensitive needs, like an unexpected school change, a last-minute application, or a mid-year placement. These are priced individually based on what’s involved. Reach out to us directly and we’ll put together a plan and give you a custom quote.
